johnny 1024x1009Last month Jonny Petterson joined the team as NZBMS Administrator. As a way to introduce Jonny to you, we have asked him a few questions:

1) Welcome to the team Jonny! Tell us a bit about yourself.
I was born in Papua New Guinea at a place called Kapuna in the Gulf Province. My parents were working with Wycliffe Bible Translators and SIL and are still working there. At the age of 7 I moved to NZ, where I lived in Palmerston North. After High School I went to Wellington to complete a Law and Arts degree. In 2012 I went to Mozambique to complete a mission school with Iris Global. I then worked as a youth pastor for 3 years at North Porirua Baptist Church in Whitby.

2) If you could have one super power what would it be and why?
To fly! Flying would save on travel and it is just a great super power.

3) What is your favourite book in the Bible?
I really like Psalms, but Isaiah is also a favourite because of all the beautiful promises.

4) What does your ideal weekend look like?
My ideal weekend would involve a road trip, lots of adventures (like tramping and camping), and playing great board games* with friends.

*Great board games include, but are not limited to, Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Risk, and Bonanza.

5) What is your favourite meal?
Lasagna!!

6) Who has been a spiritual hero in your life?
Apart from my parents who have modeled a genuine radical faith, my spiritual heroes are Heidi Baker and Randy Clark.

7) What has lead you to work for NZBMS?
I have a passion for overseas mission and hope to eventually serve overseas long-term. Working for NZBMS is a great opportunity to serve in a mission organization that is making a big difference.

8) How can people pray for you in your new role?
Please pray for wisdom and grace to serve in a way that honours God and is a blessing to those we support and send overseas.

We love having Jonny in the team, and really enjoy the energy he injects into all he does. If you haven’t already, please be sure to welcome him the next time you are in the office or are greeted by him on the phone.
